Patches of Blue, our 2nd CD, was recorded by Steve Dilling of IIIrd Tyme Out at famed Heartwood Studio in Garner, NC. Steve, a long time friend of the band, along with Bill McDonald brought an expertise to our recording that was invaluable. Upon its release, Patches of Blue was requested by radio stations around the country and as far away as the Netherlands. We have been encouraged by the kind remarks and warm reception that we have received about our music.
Our shows have been described as classy, warm, funny and engaging. The variety of music ranges from classics like Pasty Cline, Bill Monroe, and Hank Williams, to new originals that are sure to win your heart. Some observers have said that the Pie is destined for greatness and only time will tell.
The Pie has traveled many of life’s roads together. We have had more fun than folks ought to have! We are like family. We love our time together and the relationships we have formed. While we come from diverse musical backgrounds we have found this to be an asset in creating the music we call “sweetgrass.” It truly is one of a kind.
Our message is this: With God’s help, you can do anything you put your mind to, for “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass”.
